About the book
Nestled in the heart of the Victorian Western District, the city of Hamilton is a bustling business district centred around a generational farming community. Despite being nowhere near the European and Pacific battlefields of World War Two, the citizens were still very much impacted by events overseas.
This book is somewhat unique in that it recounts the stories of those left at home, how they adapted their lives to meet the challenges of “Supporting our Boys” and defending our homeland. Used both as a military training ground and a producer of goods needed to supply the “War Effort”, Hamilton’s role in World War Two was, like many other small regional towns, crucial to the War outcomes in the path to freedom and peace.
